SINOPSIS

La estatua de la Virgen que corona “El Panecillo”, loma que divide a Quito en dos, mira y sonríe al
norte de la ciudad, donde vive la gente más acomodada; en el sur, donde están la mayoría de sus
habitantes, los más pobres, solamente ven su espalda.
“A tus espaldas” es la historia de Jorge Chicaiza Cisneros (Jordi), un joven que trabaja en un banco
de Quito y cuya principal preocupación en la vida es olvidar y ocultar su origen humilde en los
barrios pobres del sur de la ciudad y su realidad racial mestiza.
La capacidad económica, que le confiere su calidad de hijo de emigrante, le permite cambiar su
nombre por Jordi Lamotta Cisneros, de igual manera cambia su lugar de residencia y de actividades.
Es un fanático de la ropa de marca, la farra y gasta todo su moderado sueldo en arreglar un auto
tunning. Todo esto con el fin de impresionar a la clase media del norte de la ciudad y ganarse su
aceptación, aún así, sabe que nunca entrará totalmente en los altos círculos sociales por ser un
mestizo sin linaje.
En este contexto conoce por coincidencia a Greta, una colombiana que ha venido a buscarse la vida
en el Ecuador y mantiene una relación secreta con el sobrino del dueño del banco en el que trabaja
Jordi, Luis Alberto Granada de la Roca, un mediocre ingeniero de marketing que esconde tras el
trabajo que le asigna su tío, una serie de negocios sucios. Jordi, Greta, Luis Alberto, un extraño
abogado, el Banco Progresista y la Virgen del Panecillo, entrelazarán casualmente sus vidas en
busca de dinero, poder y aceptación; en el proceso, descubrirán varias realidades ocultas y otras
aceptadas con resignación por la sociedad ecuatoriana.

 

 

SYNOPSIS
The statue of the Virgin that crowns "The Panecillo" looks and smiles to the north of the
city, home to wealthier people, in the south, where most of its inhabitants are the most
poor, they only see her back. "A TUS ESPALDAS” (Behind Your Back) is the story of Jorge
Chicaiza Cisneros (Jordi), a young man working at a bank in Quito and whose main
concern in life is to forget and hide his humble origins in the poor neighborhoods of the
south city and his mestizo racial reality. His economic capacity, as a son of a migrant
mother allows, him to change his name to Jordi Lamotta Cisneros, likewise change his
home residence and activities. He likes wearing designer clothes, partying and spends all
his moderate salary to car tuning. All this in order to impress the middle class of the
northern part of the city and gain their acceptance, yet he knows he will never become
part of the high social circles because as a mestizo. Jordi meets Greta by coincidence, a
Colombian girl who has come to Ecuador to make a living, and later her corruptive best
where Jordi works, Luis Alberto Granada de la Roca, an ordinary marketing engineer
which hides a series of dirty deals behind the work assigned by his uncle. Jordi, Greta,
Yahaira, Luis Alberto, a strange lawyer, The Progressive Bank and the Virgin of The Panecillo,
casually intertwine their lives in search of money, power and acceptance; in the
process, they'll discover hidden realities and other accepted with resignation by Ecuadorian
society.
